Mrs. Sharon Robinson
EMPOW.H.E.R., FOUNDER & PRESIDENT
With over 25 years of dedicated service in New York City mayoral agencies, Sharon Robinson has been a steadfast advocate for Runaway Homeless Youth and Homeless Adults. Through planning workshops and conferences, she witnessed firsthand the urgent need to assist those facing hardship, shaping her lifelong commitment to service.
A devoted member of The Greater Refuge Temple in Harlem, NY, Sharon has served in various capacities, always rolling up her sleeves to get the job done. She is the former President of the Greater Refuge Temple Pastor's Aide, a member of the Cathedral Choir, and the former Chancellor of the Board of Youth and Adult Education. Her leadership spearheaded countless initiatives, including Winter Wonderland, an annual outreach program that fed and provided gifts to over 200 families each Christmas. She also played a key role in organizing pastoral celebrations and educational programs.
In 2013, Sharon's faith was tested when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Just four months after overcoming that battle, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Enduring multiple surgeries, 15 months of chemotherapy, and 42 rounds of radiation, she held fast to the scripture, "For with God, nothing shall be impossible." (Matthew 19:26). Through it all, she became a source of encouragement for fellow patients, even pausing her own treatment to uplift others. Recognizing her impact, doctors began calling upon her to counsel and inspire those newly diagnosed. This experience led her to author Breaking Free: Memoirs of a Survivor, where she shares her testimony of God's grace and mercy.
Sharon's advocacy extends beyond personal testimony. She actively volunteers with The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and has been featured in the Queens Chronicle Newspaper and on NY1 News. As a keynote speaker, she has addressed audiences of over 2,000 people, offering hope and empowerment. Additionally, she serves on the Community Oncology Alliance, working alongside experts nationwide to improve access to quality cancer care.
Life presented another challenge in 2020 when she was diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor, requiring surgery. Despite complications, she once again witnessed God’s power to heal, declaring, "Is there anything too hard for God?" (Jeremiah 32:27). Her answer remains a resounding NO.
Out of her journey was born EmpowH.E.R, Inc. (Healed, Empowered, and Restored), a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting and empowering women. Sharon’s mission is clear: to inspire others to walk in healing, strength, and purpose.
Blessed with over 34 years of marriage, she and her husband have raised two sons who are striving to make their own impact.
When you think of EmpowH.E.R, you think of Sharon Robinson—the embodiment of Healing, Empowerment, and Restoration. Her life is a testament to faith, resilience, and unwavering service.
